Belmont Equipment and Technologies’ exclusive MX-140XW CNC EDM Sinker is characterized by a programmable work tank level that is said to provide excellent operator ergonomics for loading and unloading, while maximizing unattended job operations that have different oil level requirements. This sinker is 87" wide x 83" deep, with X, Y and Z travels of 15.7", 11.8" and 15.7", respectively. Available open height is 25.7" and the maximum workpiece weight is 1,760 lbs.

Additional features include 12-orbit patterns to reduce the number of electrodes and achieve better surface finishes. Machine parameters can be adjusted and optimized during operation and then saved for more efficient production, and Belmont’s Adaptive Logic control is said to constantly guard against arcing and shorting of the electrode under poor cutting conditions. The MX-140XW also offers a linear glass scale with 1μ resolution and the ability to interface with ancillary devices, such as rotary tables, indexers and workpiece handling systems. Optional features include an automatic tool changer to increase unattended machining by automatically changing electrodes, as well as an integrated C-axis to position the electrode automatically, rotate round electrodes at a constant speed and program synchronized motion for applications such as threads and spirals.

Belmont says these features make the MX-140XW CNC EDM Sinker well suited for the aerospace industry, as well as production applications.
